In reality, all have their place
I use all of them depending upon the job
If I want to keep the final result - I always use a good quality fixative

Made from the same quality Yorkshire coppice hardwood as all our charcoal, our artist grade powder is ground to a super fine grade of less than 0.15mm - giving you a naturally deep, rich black that goes a long way.
Whether you're making your own pigments, shading or working with ceramics, it can be used dry, mixed with water or combined with binding agents to suit your technique. A small amount goes a surprisingly long way.
No additives. No fillers. Just pure Yorkshire charcoal, finely ground.
We recommend applying a fixative when your work is complete to reduce smudging.
